10,000 Scams Online

9,000 Scams Online

8,000 Scams Online

As of a few minutes ago we posted our eight thousandth scam online. And in the two plus years that I have been running this website I STILL have not talked to anyone who got the big money from a scammer. We have had comments from people who have lost money – people who have gotten in trouble with the law, but no one has written me to tell me that they got the big money. Big damn surprise, too. If I receive statements from people who say they have won the big money I will ask for proof. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof, as they say.

Category Improvements

I spent most of last weekend writing programs to help better categorize posts automatically. Most posts should not now be posted under ‘Uncategorized’ – there are always exceptions, however.

June 6, 2009:
Site move

We’ve moved the site again – to some faster, more powerful hosting that I run yet another website on. I would call it a dedicated server, but I have two websites on this machine now.

February 26, 2009:
Site downtime

The site will have about an hour of downtime about this time tomorrow – my hosting provider is doing maintenance.

January 16, 2009:
Site move

Site’s been moved now – we had outgrown our old shared hosting and we’re now on a server that we’re not sharing. Thanks to all for patience during the move.

Categories:

I am currently unable to keep up with the categories that posts belong to – the WordPress plugin that I use to update the posts doesn’t work under the new version of WordPress (2.7).

While I have some programs to automatically update the categories of posts, they don’t work very well and they don’t cover all the categories.

Post categories:

I think I’ve stated elsewhere that this blog is posted to automatically. Adding categories to posts is not automatic, however – it depends on my schedule. I have found a Wordpress plugin that should help me keep up to some degree, but when you’re posting 24 scams per day (at present) it’s hard to keep posts out of the Uncategorized bin.

Notes from the administrator - please read the following:

1) All posts of this website (except for articles and news) are scams and are not real.

2) If you are trying to find out if a particular email or SMS message that you have received is a scam, please see our article on scam identification. The short answer is that every email you receive like this is a scam. No one we have talked to since this website was created in 2008 has won the BIG MONEY. The answer is to delete the email or SMS message and move on. Nobody is going to give you millions of dollars.
